Maricela Rangel-Garcia, MD, is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr. Rangel-Garcia began her educational career at UC Merced earning her Bachelor of Science in biology with an emphasis in human biology. She then matriculated to UC Davis School of Medicine for a postbaccalaureate program with the school of medicine. While at UC Davis she earned her Doctor of Medicine as a member of the San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education (SJV PRIME). This program is a collaboration between UC Davis, UC Merced, and UCSF Fresno to train the next generation of San Joaquin Valley physicians. She then completed an internal medicine residency with UC Davis Health and became chief resident with UC Davis Health at VA Mather. To further specialize in her field, Dr. Rangel-Garcia completed a fellowship with the Division of Gastroenterology with UC Irvine Medical Center.
As an active member of the medical community, Dr. Rangel-Garcia is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In 2018, Dr. Rangel-Garcia received the Emerging Liver Scholar award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
