A. Sarada Rao, MD, is board certified in surgery and surgical critical care.
She began her educational career at the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with an emphasis on physiology and neurobiology. She then pursued her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rao completed a general surgery residency through Eastern Virginia Medical School and subsequently finished her fellowship in surgical critical care at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Her volunteer efforts extend her work. She has worked in emergency departments, alcohol treatment centers, and student-driven free clinics. Dr. Rao has also volunteered for the nonprofit Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Project in Cozumel, Mexico, which aims to protect and conserve coral reef systems.
