Talking to Your Kids about Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Would you know what to say to a kid who asked you if marijuana was dangerous? Would you know what to say about the risks of tobacco use? What about beer? Would you say it was safer to use than some other drug? Kids grow up today hearing a variety of messages that alcohol, tobacco or other drug use is normal and expected behavior. Consequently, by the time high school students reach their senior years over half have used alcohol or another drug one or more times. If you want to learn some basic facts about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and more importantly, how to talk to kids about them, this is the program to attend.
Clearing the Smoke: The Truth about Tobacco Tobacco use is the second major cause of preventable death in the world. More people die from tobacco use than from AIDS, legal drugs, illegal drugs, auto crashes, murder, and suicide combined. Worldwide the number of deaths related to the use of tobacco is about 5 million each year. About 650 million people – half of the people who are smokers today – will eventually be killed by tobacco. Learn the truth about tobacco: trace the history of tobacco use in America, learn about the process of nicotine addiction and the risks of tobacco use and the recommended general steps one can take to end tobacco addiction.
Adults are becoming aware of the extensive inhalant abuse by children. This seminar will cover what products youth are inhaling; how they are inhaling; as well as the signs and symptoms of inhalant abuse.
