We know that most schools do not have the money they need in their budget to pay for the things they want and need. This is especially true when it come to prevention. That is why we are working with businesses to raise the money you need. To help your school raise the money it needs to do the things you need to do we can now offer mini-grants of $500 toward staging the Run Drugs Out of Town Run or a Relay4Us as a fundraiser. What is it? If your school is accepted the mini-grant will be applied toward to cost of staging a Run Drugs Out of Town Run or a Relay4Us. The cost can run from $1/runner when each runner receives a pin up to $10/runner where each gets a T-shirt and medal. That means that the $500 mini-grant will cover the cost of the first 500 runners with pins or the first 50 runners with T-shirts and medals.
If your middle or high school is staging The Relay you can add The Run as a preliminary event of elementary school kids and become the kind of role model they need. Who is eligible? Grants are available to schools or school districts in Arizona. What is the deadline? The current cycle of mini-grant applications must be received by December 12, 2006. How much money can we raise? From past experience we know that an elementary school staging a Run Drugs Out of Town Run can expect to raise $10,000 or more. A middle or high school staging a Relay4Us can raise $50,000 or more. Imagine what your school could do with that money! What can we do with the money? Since our objective is to help you raise money for drug abuse prevention we would like to see you spend the money you raise on things that will help your school with drug abuse prevention. That said we consider that anything that helps kids grow up to be better adults is drug abuse prevention. You can use the money to:
